For my youngest daughter’s eighth birthday, we chose a Frozen themed party. It really wasn’t a hard choice…she fell in love with the movie and the characters of Elsa and Anna right after seeing the movie the first time. I can’t tell you how many times we’ve seen the movie since that first time!
So Frozen it was! I began planning the party decor in my mind LONG before I actually did anything about it. Lots of snowflakes and shades of blue and purple would greet the girls who were celebrating Claire’s birthday with us.
This party was not short on games or activities to keep the young “princesses” occupied.
There was ice fishing…
a snowball toss…
build your own edible snowman…
ice block stacking…
picking up snowballs with chopsticks…
and stick the nose on Olaf.
The Frozen theme was even carried out in the food that was served.
There were two surprise guests who made an appearance while the girls were eating lunch. Yes, you guessed it…Elsa and Anna themselves, direct from Arendelle. The girls were SO excited to see these fun princesses!
Elsa and Anna joined the birthday celebration, and they sang (Let it Go, anyone?) and danced with the young princesses. They also delivered a great message about what it means to be a princess…it isn’t about wearing a dress and tiara, but it is about how you treat others.
Elsa and Anna stayed long enough to pose for some pictures and then help the girls sing to Claire while she blew out the candles on her cake.
The party ended with an even bigger surprise…it started snowing. In fact, they were the first snowflakes of the season, so you can imagine the excitement of believing that Elsa actually made it snow!
What a magical day it was for Claire as she celebrated her birthday with her friends!
