Today is my niece’s birthday! I can’t believe she is 10 years old…time does fly! My girls and I had a fun time choosing a few gifts for her last week. Unfortunately, we don’t get to see her open those presents. She lives in Charlotte, NC…which means we will need to mail a package to her. I love to wrap presents! I always say the presentation is sometimes more fun than the actual contents. It allows me to be creative and put that extra touch into the decorative side of the present. It can be frustrating to put all that effort into the wrapping and have it smashed inside a shipping box, though. When I wrapped Reed’s gift, I decided not to tie a bow and ribbon on the box. I used two of my favorites items in my craft room…baker’s twine and washi tape.
First, I wrapped the gifts (three separate items) in plain white paper.
Then I drew a large capital R (her initial) on the present that was going to go on the top of the package.
Using my hot glue gun, I put a small line of glue on top of my pencil lines. Then I covered the glue with pieces of twine. I did this in small sections, one at a time.
And there you have it…a personalized package with her very own initial! So cute!
Like I said earlier, this was going to be the gift that I would place on the top of the entire package. I used the washi tape to attach all three gifts. Fun and functional!
This was so much better than fashioning that bow that will only get smashed flat inside the shipping box.
I wish I could see her face when she opens it!
Happy birthday to our niece and cousin!!
