We begin every fall with a list of activities we want to do and places we want to visit…apple picking at the orchard, a trip to the pumpkin patch, roasting marshmallows around a bonfire, pumpkin carving, “booing” our friends…just to name a few. Sometimes our weekends are jam packed with games, practices, and homework, which makes it hard to find time to do everything we want!
However, we did find some time this past weekend to have a little corn maze fun!
It’s hard to believe how much fun can be had by running around paths cut in a field of corn stalks! This maze was cut in the shape of a Jeep…we are Jeep-proud here in Toledo!
Of course, the goal is to find your way through the maze. There are checkpoints along the way…this allows you to make sure you are on the right path by punching your card at the various numbered stops.
Corn mazes are always more fun with friends!
And if you look closely, you might even see which coat my daughter chose…
We started this adventure late in the afternoon, so the sun was quickly setting and the paths were getting darker.
Time for a break and a warmup around the fire pit!
I surprised everyone with these “to go s’more kits!”
I put together these s’more kits earlier in the day. I packaged the marshmallows in small cellophane bags and tied them with bakers twine so they would stay fresh. What about those orange pumpkin-shaped marshmallows…so cute! Don’t forget the graham crackers and the chocolate.
I placed all the supplies in individual berry baskets. This made it so easy to give each person a basket with all they needed to make their s’mores, and they could use the berry basket for trash.
We threw some roasting sticks in the car, along with the s’more kits and we were ready for a yummy treat after exploring the corn maze. With the drop in temperature last weekend, it was a perfect night to stand around a fire and make s’mores!
